July 2022: Issue 79 New PPG Divisional Meetups Starting August 2022, PPG will be rolling out new Divisional Meetups for its members. The meetings will be hosted by PPG’s individual committees and are designed to support the PPG community. The meetups will provide a chance to meet, chat and learn about specific topics pertinent to that division. Guest speakers will be in attendance and the events will be recorded so members can listen afterwards. Events will be rotated around time zones to enable members across different time zones to attend, i.e., 9 a.m. ET, Noon ET, and 5 p.m. ET, and will be accessible via both Facebook and Zoom. Watch this space! Event listings will be posted shortly in the member area of the PPG website.

November Scent Workshops PPG's November scent events will be hosted by Dr. Robert Hewings and Karen Hewings of the UK College of Scent Dogs in Crystal River on the Nature Coast of Florida. Scent cent Event 1: Scent and Scentability Wednesday, November 2 - Friday, November 4, 2022 Program includes an introduction to the canine olfactory system, an introduction to scent and its many disciplines, teaching scent skills (plus equipment and environment), scent searches (patterns, duration, and handling), and how you can incorporate scent work into your training and behavior business. Event 2: Advanced Instructor Handling Skills Saturday, November 5 – Sunday, November 6, 2022 Program includes how to hone your active search skills, more complex techniques and search systems, strategic searching of difficult hides, searching with more distractions and increased distance from your dog, how to manage and navigate complex search patterns, becoming more competent with a variety of hide locations, heights, distance and ease of access, and advanced leash handling skills around large objects, locations and equipment.
