The Podcast for December 4th with Victoria Stilwell and Janis Bradley

Victoria Stilwell was in the house to tell us why she stands firmly against BSL and believes it essential to teach the public to better understand their dog’s body and vocal language, promoting responsible guardianship and educating children, in particular, how to be safe around dogs. We asked Victoria about her involvement in fighting to save dogs that have been seized because of Breed Specific Legislation.  We also chatted about Victoria's T.V. show 'Dogs Might Fly' and learnt all about the Victoria Stilwell Dog Training Academy.

Janis Bradley, the Director of Communications and Publications at National Canine Research Council, joined us to talk about Breed Specific Legislation - why it does not work and why, if we wish to lower the incidence of dog bites, she recommends multifactorial approaches focusing on improved ownership and husbandry practices, better understanding of dog behavior, education of parents and children regarding safety around dogs, and consistent enforcement of dangerous dog/reckless owner ordinances in communities

The Podcast for November 2nd Special Edition with Jean Donaldson

Jean Donaldson, Instructor, Coach, Mentor and Founder of The Academy for Dog Trainers, joined us on this special edition of PPG World Service to kick off a series of interviews with a number of canine behavior experts to discuss why Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) is ineffective and potentially misleading. The move is part of PPG’s ongoing mission to deliver quality, up-to-date education on dog bite safety and force-free training and pet care to both the general public and pet professionals. in PPG’s Position Statement on Breed Specific Legislation, Jean said:  “PPG’s position is to follow the evidence, which to date strongly suggests that BSL does not achieve the objective of decreasing dog bites or serious dog attacks. Instead, dog guardians should be held responsible for their pets’ conduct, regardless of breed, and dogs who have not offended should not be targeted.”

Jean will be giving us her expert thoughts on Breed Specific Legislation, in particular why she believes BSL does not work and what approaches she would propose to help lower the incidence of dog bites.

We will also be chatting to Jean about The Academy For Dog Trainers and everything she is up to in the world of dog.
