Shock-Free Coalition Launches Survey on Use of Shock Collars in Dog Training
The study will help the researchers understand perceptions about various aspects of the use of electronic collars on canines and is being conducted primarily by the Shock-Free Coalition and Dr. Nathaniel J. Hall from the Department of Animal and Food Sciences at Texas Tech University. The survey takes a few minutes to complete and will provide important data for the Shock-Free Coalition. It is available until April 2, 2019. Please forward to all your friends, family, colleagues, and contacts who share their lives with pet dogs.
Portland Summit Sessions to Be Recorded
All sessions at PPG’s 2019 Aggression and Bite Prevention Seminar, being held in Portland, Oregon on April 26-28 will be recorded. They will be available for pre- and post-event sales from April 20, 2019 and PPG members will receive a discount. Those attending the event can purchase a copy of the recordings on site for a discounted rate. New Pet Dog Ambassador Videos
Pet Dog Ambassador (PDA) has made some important updates to its website and member area to make it easier to navigate and understand the program. On the home page there are now three videos, each demonstrating the skills required for each of the first three levels. The PDA committee is currently working on the videos for Levels 4 and 5. Meanwhile, instructors and assessors have access to the videos in a Dropbox folder (note: you need to be logged in) and there is also an embedded video of each skill at each of the three levels on the public page that you can use in your business, on your website, email to clients, or in your marketing activities. Survey: Has Your Pet Stayed in an Overnight Critical Care Facility? In honor of her late 6-year-old Aussie, Willow (above), PPG member Lisa Lyle Waggoner CPDT-KA CSAT PMCT2 has launched a new non-profit corporation, Willow’s NamaStay, to help guardians find complementary lodging so they can overnight nearby when their pet is in a critical care facility not in their home town. Can you spend a few minutes filling out a short survey to help Lisa project how people may use the new service? Says Lisa: “We lost Willow last year to liver disease. When she was in a critical care facility for six days, we were driving 200 miles a day to be with her during daytime hours.” The new corporation aims to help other pet guardians in a similar situation. Please spare a moment to complete the short Emergency Veterinary Care survey to let Lisa know how many nights (if any) your pet has stayed overnight in a critical care facility. Thank you! PPGBI Announces WOOF! 2019 Selfie Competition Winner
Congratulations to Claire Lee (above, left) who has won the PPGBI WOOF! 2019 selfie competition. She has won a ticket to PPG Summit 2020, which will be a very special, unique event. Details will be announced next month. Lee is a veterinary nurse at Emerson's Green Veterinary Surgery in Bristol, England and is currently studying for a degree in applied behavior and training.
